Further information about the student conference: As mentioned above, we are hosting the conference virtually this year, over the course of 4 days. Given the virtual nature of the conference, we are able to open it up to students from across the UK.
The conference has a number of objectives including:
- inspiring students by raising the visibility of role models;
- providing students with an insight into the professional lives of those pursuing a legal career thereby allowing them to make an informed decision about the career path they choose to pursue; and
- providing students with the tools to navigate the application and interview process in a way that gives them the best chance of success.
The conference will be constituted of the following sessions:
- 6 April 2021 (6:30 – 7:30 pm):
- Panel discussion on multiculturalism in the legal profession: the challenges and the opportunities. The speakers for this session will be:
- Hammad Akhtar (Partner, Pinsent Masons) (Chair)
- Tan Ikram (Senior District Judge);
- Ashar Qureshi (Partner, Fried Frank);
- Sahar Farooqi (DAC Beachcroft); and
- Habibunnisha Patel (General Counsel, Save the Children).

- Tasnim Khalid (Partner, JMW);
- Koser Shaheen (Professional Support Lawyer, HM Treasury and Chair of Ethnic Minority Lawyers Division at the Law Society); and
- Orin Begum (Associate, Clifford Chance).
