Accutrainee is proud to announce the launch of its 2023 Scholarship Programme

The Scholarship Programme was set up to address inequalities and create greater access and inclusion in the legal sector. Trainees who are awarded the Scholarship are sponsored to undertake their Solicitors Qualifying Examinations and we will discuss funding towards the LPC if this is the chosen route. Trainees are provided with opportunities to gain their necessary qualifying work experience to qualify as Solicitors.

As a training partner, Accutrainee will continually monitor and assess both the work Scholars are conducting, as well as their development throughout their training period and be there to support them every step of the way.

We are currently accepting applications. The job opening can be found on the Jobs page of the Accutrainee website. The deadline for applications is 28 April 2023.

Hi all,

This is Student Parents Rep Steve Anderson here. Are you aware that there are approximately 3,400 Student Parents here at Edinburgh University? And not just that, our active community is ever increasing and even at times thriving. We have regular meet ups – both in person and online – usually with complimentary nibbles. We you like to know more? Either send me an email at studentparents@eusa.ed.ac.uk or join our social media group(s)

Here’s a link to our WhatsApp group should you wish to join:

and similarly, our Facebook group:

For our next in person catch up, I’ll be taking my boys to the student election results night in Potterrow on Friday March 10th, so I thought why not just put a shout out if anyone wants to meet up with or without family beforehand somewhere in Teviot Row on Bristo Square (Central campus). There won’t be any nibbles at this one – that will come later on in March/ April – just a catch up. I’ll be there around 4-5.30pm. All very welcome to come along

And in the meantime, look after yourselves.

Steve. 🙂

Applications for the 2023-2024 class of the MSc Maritime Science are open!

The Master of Science in Maritime Science is an inter-university programme developed by Ghent University (UGent) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). It aims at students from diverse academic backgrounds, with a common passion for the maritime sector (be they from a scientific, economic, legal or other background) and who already hold a Master degree. People working in the sector itself may also benefit from the programme to enhance their knowledge and skills.

The programme itself comprises three main pillars: a technical/general pillar, an economic/logistic pillar and a legal pillar. It follows a multidisciplinary approach which makes it unique in the global academic landscape. As the maritime sector operates in a highly international environment, all courses are offered in English. The programme is taught by experts with international acknowledgements and experience. The strong interaction with the maritime sector through guest lectures and a significant amount of field trips (to ports like Ghent, Antwerp and Rotterdam, as well as a multiday trip to London) provides students with up-to-date information on ports and shipping and a global view of the maritime world.

You can find all relevant information on the website of our study programme as well as the Ghent University programme page.

We look forward to receiving your applications!
