City Internships – Summer 2022

www.city-internships.com/apply/

Given the prevailing conditions we anticipate unusually high interest this academic season.

Those interested – particularly in our more popular London, New York, and Los Angeles programs – are advised to apply sooner than later.

Program changes for 2021/22

For 2021/22, all program varieties now include:

– A summer/semester-length placement with a leading employer in the student’s chosen field;

– Full 12-unit Career Navigator readiness course & 12-unit Future Leaders commercial skills course, and;

– A complement of on-the-ground coaches & mentors, and calendar of social, cultural & travel events.

(The full CN/FL courses were previously exclusive to the summer, in-person, cohort-based ‘Global Accelerator Program’. Given their observed impact on early-career outcomes, however, they are now integral to our semester-length ‘Explorer’ and ‘Remote’ programs also.)

Academic partnerships in 2021/22

Together with leading colleges and universities, CI creates globally engaged, career-ready graduates.

We provide outcomes-focused experiential education programs, which combine work-based practical training, class-based seminars and workshops, and on-the-ground coaching.

CI alumni secure graduate-level employment 3x more quickly and starting salaries 30% higher than their graduating peers.

After a 24-month freeze on new academic partnership requests, we will be inviting new requests later this month. Details to follow.

The Edinburgh Award

Law Leaders and Student Legal Placements

The Edinburgh Award is distinct to the University of Edinburgh and has been developed to encourage and more formally recognise student achievement and learning from outside the formal curriculum.

  • The Award recognises students who take part in non-academic activities while studying at the University. It also encourages students to reflect on, and develop, the skills that can be gained through taking part in activities outwith their degree.

  • The experience of taking part in these activities combined with the ability to reflect on and actively develop your skills will stand you in good stead for the future, whatever that may be.

Students who successfully complete the Edinburgh Award will be invited to an exclusive end-of-Award event and will receive both a certificate of recognition from the University and an entry on their Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR – an expanded record of your achievements within the University).

The School of Law will be running two versions of the Award in 2021/22.

The first is the Student Legal Placements scheme and the second, the Student Law Leaders scheme.

Any student, currently undertaking extra-curricular legal work and in 3rd year, a Graduate LLB student, or above, may apply for entry to the Student Legal Placement scheme.

For Diploma student purposes, any student undertaking current legal placements by the time the Award sessions start, whether it be paid or otherwise, in a charity or firm, can apply to complete this Award.

Any student currently holding a position on a council, committee or society within the School of Law may apply to take part in the Law Leaders scheme.

Rebecca Samaras, Director of Pro Bono and Clinical Legal Education, shall be the organiser for both these  Edinburgh Award versions.   If you wish to join either of the Awards, please email Clare Anderson at: Clare.Anderson@ed.ac.uk  by 12 noon on Thursday 28th October 2021 and she will be in touch with details about the first of three mandatory sessions which will take place in November.

Submissions are open for the OUULJ’s 11th Edition

Submissions are open for the OUULJ’s 11th Edition

DEADLINE: 31st December 2021

The OUULJ was the first undergraduate law journal in the UK and continues to be Oxford’s only publication for undergraduate legal writing. Edited and staffed entirely by undergraduates, the OUULJ offers a platform for discourse on legal developments and a unique opportunity for law undergraduates to be published in a recognised law journal. This year our Honorary Board includes distinguished members of the judiciary, including Lord Neuberger and Lord Wilson, as well as notable legal academics such as Lord Pannick QC and Dinah Rose QC.

Writing a submission for the Journal is an excellent way to deepen your understanding of the relevant subject area and develop crucial skills for academic writing or legal practice. Additionally, having a ‘Publications’ section in your CV is a great way to stand out from the crowd.

For more information and a comprehensive list of the guidelines for submissions, please visit https://www.law.ox.ac.uk/ouulj/submissions or write to ouulj@law.ox.ac.uk. Alternatively, you can find us on HeinOnline at https://heinonline.org/HOL/Index?index=journals/oxfuniv&collection=journals, and Lexis Library.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
