ESLR CO-EDITOR-IN-CHIEF RECRUITMENT
Both of the ESLR’s Co-Editor-in-Chief positions will become vacant on 1st July 2021. We are therefore opening recruitment to fill these two positions. Applicants must be full time matriculated students at the Edinburgh Law School for the full duration of the 2021/22 academic year. Both UG and PG students may apply. Past experience working for the ESLR in either a content editor or copy editor role is not essential but will be considered a significant advantage.
The duties of a Co-Editor-in-Chief include:
- Recruitment of all other ESLR positions
- Issuing the annual call for papers and conducting an initial sift of submissions
- Leadership of the content editing process
- Final decision on which submissions to publish in the annual edition
- Line management of the chief copy editors, publication officers and finance officers
- Compiling the master document and arranging publication of the annual edition
- External liaison with Law School faculty, UoE Printing Services, UoE Law Library, financial sponsors, HeinOnline and the British Library legal deposit office
- Ultimate responsibility for the financial and legal health of the ESLR
This role involves a significant additional time commitment on top of your studies, especially in the months of January to May. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a willingness to prioritise the needs of the ESLR and explain how they will ensure their availability. Those wishing to apply should submit a CV (max three pages A4) and a short covering letter (max one page A4) to Jonathan Ainslie and Maya Sajeev, current Co-Editors-in-Chief, at edslr@ed.ac.uk by no later than 5pm on 5th June 2021. Late applications will not be accepted.
