Covid-19 Testing for Semester 2 is Now Open For Booking
We will be offering asymptomatic Covid-19 testing from Thursday 7th January – Friday 12th February.
Testing will be available at the Pleasance Sport Complex and Gym and will be the same type of tests that were provided before the winter break.
All tests need to be booked in advance via our booking website. Please remember that you will need to book two lateral flow tests between 3 and 5 days apart.
The tests are voluntary but we strongly encourage you to book a test if you are returning to Edinburgh from another part of the UK. This will reduce the risk of you passing Covid-19 onto others when you and/or your housemates return to Edinburgh.
If you are an undergraduate student, you should book your tests to coincide with the date you return to your term time accommodation. Your school will have been in contact with you regarding this and more information is available on our Covid-19 webpages:
Once you have been tested, you should expect to get your results within 24 hours through the NHS Test and Protect system. If you test negative, during the period between your first test and second test, you will be able to continue your learning and teaching activities on-campus as usual. While a negative test will let you know that you don’t have the virus at the time of testing, you will still need to follow the Scottish Government’s safety guidance, such as physical distancing measures.
If either result is positive, you and your immediate household will be required to self-isolate for 10 days and you will then need to book a PCR Covid-19 test via the NHS testing process to confirm the result.
Please note that if you are returning to Edinburgh from overseas, you will still need to follow self-isolation requirements – a positive result in these tests cannot be used to shorten any period of self-isolation.
