New Society: Criminal Law and Justice Society
Hi everyone,
My name is Geena Reilly and I’m the creator of the University of Edinburgh Criminal Law and Criminal Justice society (or UofECrimSoc for short). This is a new society at the university and our goal is to inspire interest and encourage curiosity in everything criminal law and justice- from careers to just understanding a bit more about the concept. Throughout the year we will be hosting discussions, get-to-know sessions, and panel events with individuals in criminal law and justice, ranging from academics to advocates, civil servants to penal officers, along with a host of socials so that you can get to know the student body a bit better. Along with the opportunity to socialise we also hope to organise workshopping events for those who are interested in pursuing a career in criminal law or justice in some capacity but don’t really know where to begin, or what sort of careers are out there. Right now, we are looking for individuals to fill the various roles on the committee and we have a variety of them up for grabs.
If you think that this sounds like your cup of tea or you’re just curious about what we do and who we are, head over to our Facebook page and check us out! On Friday we will be hosting a virtual vote in event for committee members via zoom, further details are on our page: https://www.facebook.com/UofECrimSoc
Hope you’re all safe and well,
Geena.
