EUPIDS and WIL are delighted to invite you to a panel about the interaction between law and gender in the Palestinian-Israeli context, with four leading women academics and legal practitioners.
Attorney Sharon Abraham-Weiss, the Executive Director of the Association of Civil Rights in Israel, will discuss her role founding the organisation Itach-Ma’aki which is an intersectional feminist legal organisation. Ms Fadwah Khawjah, the Head of the Board of the Jerusalem Center for Women, will discuss her efforts to encourage the implementation of UNSC Resolution 1325 in the Oslo Accords negotiation. Professor Emerita Talia Einhorn will discuss the religious elements of Israeli law and the place of women and LGBTQ+ families within it, in addition to her research into Palestinian-Israeli International Economic legal arrangements. Attorney Nadia Silhi-Chanin, who is a Chilean-Palestinian researcher at the University of Edinburgh, will expand on her research into Palestinian feminist lenses in the study of International Law.
In addition to exploring the substantive elements of the law, the panellists will share their experiences as leading women in law.
