Legal Summer Placement Scheme 2020 – Final Year Students

The City of Edinburgh Council is now inviting applications for its Summer Placement Scheme 2020.

Placement Details

A summer placement at the Council offers an exciting opportunity to develop the skills required of trainee solicitors, working alongside an experienced team of in-house lawyers.

Students will have the opportunity to complete a week in two of the following departments: Commercial Practice, Litigation, Property and Planning or Employment.

The placement is open to students in the final year of the LL.B, or the final year of the accelerated degree.

Placements will take place over two weeks from 15 June to 26 June 2020.

Core Competencies

Summer placement applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:

• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills;
• Ability to communicate effectively and accurately, both verbally and in writing;
• Ability to research legal solutions effectively and clearly present findings;
• Knowledge of the fundamental principles of Scots Law; and
• A keen interest in public administration.
