The Edinburgh University Mooting Society would like to encourage all law students to join our society this year.
Mooting is a form of legal debate, modelled on real life court proceedings, where teams of two present persuasive arguments on a legal issue before a Judge. It’s as close to the real thing as it’s possible to come.
For all 1st year students its also a great opportunity to practice before your contact and unjustified enrichment moot later this semester.
We run two internal competitions every year with one just for 1st years and another for 2nd, 3rd and 4th years.
Mooting is a great skill for any lawyer to have and looks great on your CV. It is also a fantastic networking opportunity and we have an excellent relationship with the Edinburgh Legal community. We have a number of cash prizes to award and we have a great social side too.
We also run a number of talks from academics and practicing lawyers throughout the year.
Membership is just £7 for the year and it’s not too late to join. Simply send us an email with your details or drop us a message on Facebook and we’ll sign you up.
